Police cadets die in parachute jump

Two cadets from the Police Academy died during a practice parachute jump after their parachutes failed to open on Monday morning, according to Matichon online.

The tragedy reportedly occurred about 7.30am at the Air Support Command headquarters of the Border Patrol Police in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

Five second-year cadets of Class 69 of the Police Academy jumped from the plane as a team, but their parachutes did not open. The report said their static lines failed to deploy the parachutes. It was believed the line they were attached to broke.

Three of them managed open their reserve parachutes and landed safely, but the other two plummeted to the  ground.

The two who died were identified as police cadets Chayakorn Chomromsamosorn and Nathawuth Chomromchia.
