The Meteorological Department on Wednesday issued an advisory for the people to brace for hot weather and summer thunderstorms in the upper part of the country between April 3-7.
It said from Aprll 3-6 a rather strong high pressure system will cover upper Thailand, which is experiencing hot to very hot weather.
In addition, from April 4-7 a westerly trough will move in to cover the upper part of the country, bringing with it summer thunderstorms, gusting winds and isolated hail.
Areas likely to be affected are:
- Nong Khai, Bung Kan, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Sakon Nakhon, Khon Kaen, Amnat Charoen, Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buri Ram and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces on April 3-4;
- Chaiyaphum, Phetchabun, Nakhon Sawan, Lop Buri, Saraburi, Ayutthaya, Chai Nat, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Bangkok and nearby provinces on April 4-5;
- Tak, Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Chiang Rai, Nan, Phrae, Kamphaeng Phet, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit and Phetchabun on April 5-6;
- and Loei, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani and Bung Kan on April 6-7.
