SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

In response to a growing demand among smartphone users, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched an application called Lifestyle Thailand, which offers a selection of accommodation, restaurants and activities to enjoy in the Kingdom.

The interface is impressively easy to use. With lovely illustrations, the app has two major parts. The first, Experience Thainess, offers information on interesting activities — especially for foreign tourists — that convey Thai lifestyles such as Thai boxing training, cooking courses, rice farming lessons, practicing Thai performances, mastering Thai massages, and crafting and weaving. Explanations and locations of each activity are also available. This section of the app also provides information on Thailand’s famous festivals and celebrations, such as Songkran.

The second part of the app, Eight Lifestyles, is helpful for Thai people who want something to do during their days off. This part offers eight lifestyle topics including chic, Thainess, family, romantic, wellness, breeze, adventure and easy & slow. Each topic is divided into three small parts — accommodation, restaurants and things to do.

Select "Family", for instance, and you will be directed to accommodation and restaurants ideal for family vacations and activities recommended for family members such as a dolphin show in Chon Buri, Splash Jungle Water Park in Phuket, Siam Ocean World in Bangkok and Farm Chokchai in Nakhon Ratchasima. If you tap "Wellness", you will be provided with accommodation, restaurants and activities that are good for your health — a few days at RarinJinda Wellness Spa Resort in Chiang Mai, a vegetarian meal at Anotai restaurant in Bangkok or a stop at Yunomori Onsen and Spa in downtown Bangkok.

Lifestyle Thailand also offers panoramic photos of some certain places, allowing you to see the locations from many different angles — Sampran Riverside in Nakhon Pathom, Red Sky rooftop restaurant in Bangkok and Dasada Resort in Prachin Buri, for example.

The information is available in English.
