Four bombs rock Yala, wound 12

Four bombs exploded in the heart of Yala town on Sunday afternoon, leaving 12 people wounded, 1 of them seriously, and many houses set ablaze, reports said.

The bombs went off at about 4pm at four spots - the Colesium intersection in front of Racha Furniture Shop, in front of an ATM at the electricity authority, in front of Fa Sai shop and at the entrance of Muang Mai Market in Muang district of Yala.

The bomb in front to Racha Furniture shop was reportedly placed in a sidecar. It caused a fire that spread to burn more than ten houses nearby.

The explosions wounded at least 12 people, one of them seriously. They were admitted to Yala Hospital.

Lt Gen Walit Rojanapakdi, the 4th Army commander, ordered the four spots to be cordoned off and telephone signals cut for fear that more bombs would possibly be detonated remotely.
