Hail storms damaged hundreds of houses in several provinces on Saturday evening and yesterday but no one was reported to be seriously hurt.
In Chiang Rai, a hail storm continued for half an hour in many areas on Saturday evening. It damaged the roofs of several hundred houses, farmland and signboards in tambon Wiang Nua sub-district of Wiang Chai district, tambon Mae Salong Nok sub-district of Mae Fa Luang district, tambon Ban Tu and tambon Nang Lae of Muang Chiang Rai district.
About 100 families had to evacuate from their houses. Hail also struck Doi Mae Salong mountain in Mae Fa Luang district.
In the Central Plains province of Kamphaeng Phet a storm damaged the roofs of nearly 140 houses in Kosamphinakhon district on Saturday night.
Wisanu Sukdee, 40, said the storm hit his village about 7.30pm and ripped off steel roof tiles from his house.
Banyat Khaoprateep, 47, said the storm destroyed her roof and damaged furniture worth hundreds of thousands of baht.
Thum Buasorn, 58, said it was the fiercest storm she had ever encountered.
In the northeastern province of Si Sa Ket, a hail storm struck Ban Ta Thaen village in Kantharalak district for over an hour yesterday.
It damaged the roofs of more than 300 houses and levelled about 10 of them.
It also caused power poles to collapse and caused a blackout for more than 10 hours.
Villagers were seen collecting roof tiles that were blown up to a kilometre away from their homes.
In the northern province of Lampang, a thunderstorm hit the centre of Lampang for more than 30 minutes yesterday evening.
At the same time a hail storm took place in Muang Lampang district. It was the second hail storm there this year.
The previous hail storm occurred on March 22 and damaged more than 1,000 houses in tambon Ban Uam then.
Another hail storm damaged about 50 houses in six villages of tambon Mae Mok of Thoen district in Lampang yesterday evening. Hail stones were the size of ping pong balls. It was the second hailstorm there in a week.
