Ten workers died and another 18 were injured when a lorry carrying them from Sukhothai to Nong Khai careered off the road on a sharp corner in Loei province early Monday morning.
Pol Capt Winai Nakorhkwang, a duty officer of Wang Saphung police station, said the accident hapened about 1.30am in neighbouring Phu Rue district.
Police and rescue workers rushed to the scene and took the injuried to Wang Saphung and other hospitals.
He said nine workers died at the scene and another at one in hospsital. Another 18 labourers were injured, he said.
A preliminary police report said the truck was carrying about 30 people from Sukhothai to work in sugarcane fields in Nong Khai. The driver lost control of the vehicle on a sharp curve where accidents frequently occur, he said.
