Pheu Thai accuses Suthep of rebellion

The Pheu Thai Party on Tuesday filed a complaint with Department of Special Investigation (DSI) chief Tarit Pengdith against Suthep Thaugsuban and other People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) core members, accusing them of breaches of Section 113 of the Criminal Code.

The complaint was submitted to Mr Tarit by Pheu Thai spokesman Prompong Nopparit at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau offices, where the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (Capo) operates from.

Mr Prompong said Mr Suthep announced on April 5 in the presence of other PDRC core members that if the Constitutional Court rules that Yingluck Shinawatra had forfeited the prime ministership for the unjustified removal of Thawil Pliensri as National Security Council O(NSC) secretary-general he would declare the PDRC a sovereign entity and propose a royal command for the appointment of a prime minister and cabinet members.

Mr Suthep said he would himself countersign the royal command after it had received royal approval.

Mr Prompong said according to the 2007 constitution the proposal for the appointment of the prime minister must be made through the House of Representatives.

Mr Suthep, in making such an announcement, and other PDRC leaders had committed rebellion under Section 113 of the Criminal Code, he said.

He said he would also file a similar complaint with the Constitutional Court.

Mr Tarit said the DSI, Office of the Attorney General (OAG) and Royal Thai Police Office (RTPO) had followed up on this matter.

He said Capo director Chalerm Yubamrung had ordered that all audio clips of Mr Suthep and other PDRC leaders be presented for examination at today's meeting of the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order.
