An explosive device detonated at a home in Soi Serithai in Bangkok’s Kanan Yao district and killed a youth and wounded his female companion, police said Thursday.
An explosion "like a bomb" was reported to police about 5.20am, according to the Facebook page of FM 91 Trafficpro, a Bangkok radio station.
Narenthorn Centre reported that a youth aged between 15 and 19 was found dead in the house, and the female about the same age was taken to a nearby hospital.
Pol Maj Gen Naiwat Padermchit, commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 4, said the initial investigation revealed the dead youth was apparently making a bomb when he accidentally exploded the device. He said there was no indication the incident had any political connection.
