PM: Seven days of happiness

Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said on Thursday she would rather the Songkran holidays, April 11-17, be known as "seven days of happiness" than "seven dangerous days" because of the road toll.

The prime minister made this remark during a meeting on Songkran safety of the committee on prevention and reduction of road accidents in Pathum Thani, reports said.

She said the holidays should not be called "seven dangerous days" but instead should be known as "seven days of happiness".

During the meeting, Ms Yingluck stressed the need for government agencies to inform the people of all important telephone numbers so that they can easily contact authorities for help during accidents or vehicle  breakdowns.
