THE SET-UP

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

People whose stomachs have a separate compartment for dessert can skip their main course and go straight for the various sweet options on offer at Delish. Opened in February, the venue offers an airy feel and array of bakery items to satisfy your sweet tooth. The large windows and skylight brighten up the venue with natural light. The adorable atmosphere seemingly implies you won’t be judged if you sip your tea with your pinky sticking out. There’s a big kitchen island where baking classes take place. The dainty decor draws in Japanese and Korean housewives and schoolgirls during weekdays while the weekends see Thai families.

THE MENU

Delight strawberry shortcake (B125) sweetens up your mood without being saccharine. The cake is soft and moist while the cream tastes somewhat fluffy. Zesty rainbow crepe cake (B145) has a whopping 36 layers of crepe alone but it tastes so light you’ll probably have no problem finishing it even if it’s your second slice. These soft layers can be easily cut through. The lemon sauce adds zest while the whipped dairy cream is very light and melts in your mouth. Very banana banoffee (B115) should impress you from top to bottom. The top layer of cream, not too rich, is followed by sweet-but-not-sugary caramel banana. The base of buttered crushed cracker adds some texture. Mix berries smoothie (B125) may be refreshing during the first sips but you soon may find it overpowering. Red berries Italian soda (B95) doesn’t deliver the expected fruity and sweet sensation.

INSIDER TIP

Although Delish isn’t large in size, it can play several roles — a cafe, a baking school and a venue for private parties. Each baking class is open to four or five people only and run by chefs who graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Dusit. Go to their Facebook page to see the class schedule. You can book the place for a two-hour children’s birthday party for up to 10 people. The package (from B8,500) includes a cupcake baking class, snacks, birthday cake and decoration. They will start to offer afternoon tea sets around the end of this month (B545 or B645). They use premium tea blends such as Fortnum & Mason from London and Mariage Freres from Paris.

SOCIAL MEDIA MOMENTS

Their beautiful cakes are definitely worth sharing with your followers. Don’t be bitter when the rainbow crepe cake receives more likes than your latest selfie, though.

VALUE & VERDICT

Delish delivers cakes that make the cut but we’re not too sure about their smoothies. Those who want to satisfy their sweet cravings by hanging out over cake and tea in the afternoon should definitely consider it. G
