71 migrants held

A task force unit of the 25th Infantry Regiment on Sunday arrested 71 Myanmar illegal migrant workers in Ranong's Kra Buri district following a tip-off.

The 71 migrants — 55 men and 16 women — were found resting near an oil palm plantation at Ban Hin Yai in tambon Jor Por Ror.

They were about to be transported to another destination when the military unit showed up.

The migrant workers were brought to Ranong by traffickers. They were bound for Phuket, Surat Thani, Songkhla and Malaysia.
