Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva went to the Royal Thai Armed Forces Command headquarters at the government offices complex on Chaeng Wattana road on Monday and held a meeting with Gen Thanasak Patimapagorn, the supreme commander, to discuss finding a solution to the protracted political crisis plaguing the country.
The meeting between Mr Abhisit and Gen Thanasak was held in private in a reception room. Members of the news media were not allowed inside.
Security was tight at the venue of the meeting.
The meeting with the supreme commander is part of Mr Abhisit's ongoing campaign aimed to break the political deadlock by proposing elections as an integral part of the reform process.
