Justice permanent secretary shunted

The cabinet on Tuesday approved the transfer of justice permanent secretary Kittipong Kitayarak to the post of adviser to the prime minister, Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri said.

Mr Chaikasem said Mr Kittipong will be replaced by Thongthong Chandrangsu, currently PM's Office permanent secretary.

Mr Thongthong will be replaced by Lt Gen Paradorn Pattanatabut, an adviser to the prime minister and former secretary-general of the National Security Council.

Mr Chaikasem said: "Mr Kittipong voluntarily asked for it (the transfer). The position of PM's adviser is equivalent to the post of permanent secretary."

It was reported that Mr Kittipong had earlier sent a letter to Mr Chaikasem announcing his wish to be  appointed adviser to the prime minister.

Mr Kittipong has posted on his Facebook page on several occasions voicing his disagreement with the government.  He also boycotted several meetings called by the prime minister.

Today's cabinet decisions on the transfers of officials will be forwarded to His Majesty the King for a royal command.
