Bangkok, despite a 10% increase, is among the least expensive cities to have a club sandwich, with Geneva topping the global chart.
In the Swiss city, prices of the club sandwich, the classic hotel staple of chicken, bacon, egg, lettuce and mayonnaise sandwich, are 1,053 baht on average, according to a research released today by Hotels.com, a major accommodation booking website.
The average price is calculated from the real prices paid by guests for a club sandwich in 30 hotels in either the capital or an important tourist city in the 28 countries surveyed, across five-, four- and three-star categories. In total, 840 hotels globally were canvassed.
Paris, a gastronomic hub, held on to the No. 2 spot with a new average of 949 baht, followed by Helsinki, which knocked Oslo out of the top three with 787 baht, following an increase on the 2013 average cost in the Finnish capital.
New Delhi remained the cheapest destination for a club, with an average of just 284 baht, although several other holiday favourites also appeared under the 541-baht threshold, including Madrid (515 baht), Rio de Janeiro (473 baht) and Bangkok (387 baht).
The Thai capital ranks 25th in the chart with an average club sandwich price of 387 baht, an increase from 342 baht in 2013. The rise contrasted with the global price trend, which recorded a decline.
However, the price of a club sandwich in Thailand is lower than in other cities in the region such as Hong Kong (714 baht), Singapore (496 baht) and Beijing (438 baht).
