The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) issued an urgent order on Friday for all agencies involved in flood solutions to suspend water management-related projects to allow for a revision of all schemes.

The order affects all relevant plans and projects that have been approved, are being implemented or are being planned.
The NCPO also ordered the agencies to send information about the plans and projects to its economic department at the Royal Thai Army headquarters on Ratchadamnoen Avenue in Bangkok by Monday so they can be revised and directed properly.
The order will also affect the 350-billion-baht water management scheme ordered by the Yingluck Shinawatra government that has been criticised for being poorly planned.
The order went to the Royal Irrigation Department; the Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning; the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation; the Royal Forest Department; the Department of Water Resources; the Hydro and Agro Informatics Institute; the Engineering Institute of Thailand; the Metropolitan Electricity Authority; the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand; the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority; the Provincial Waterworks Authority; the Marine Department; the Budget Bureau; and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. A few smaller agencies are also involved.
