Ambush injures two rangers in Pattani

Two rangers were wounded when ambushed while on patrol providing security for teachers in Pattani's Yaring district on Monday morning.

Pol Lt Thira Iadchata, the duty officer at Yaring police station, said a team of six rangers from Rangers Company 4203 were on foot patrol along a road to Village Group 2 in tambon Yamu when a bomb concealed on the roadside was detonated remotely.

At the same time, a pick-up truck arrived at the scene and militants in the rear compartment opened fire at them.  The attack occurred about 7.30am.

Two rangers - Sunan Buawaree and Anurak Khongthong - were wounded. They were admitted to Yaring Hospital.
