Matichon boss's warrant revoked

The Bangkok Military Court on Monday approved a police request to cancel an arrest warrant for Khanchai Boonparn, president of Matichon Group, saying he failed to report to the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) because he is sick.

Thakoon Boonparn, managing director of Matichon Group and the son of Mr Khanchai, provided a medical certificate and doctor's letter to the Crime Supression Division to explain the case.

Mr Khanchai had recent heart surgery at the Bangkok General Hospital and was still under treatment. He was unable to report to the NCPO.

Mr Kwnachai, 70, is one of the founders of the Thai-language Matichon newspaper.

The court earlier on Monday had approved warrants for the arrest of 28 people, including Mr Khanchai, at the CSD's request.
