THAI delays Heathrow terminal switch

In London, Thai Airways International (THAI) has put off its move from Heathrow airport’s Terminal 3 to Zone A of the newly opened Terminal 2 until late August rather than tomorrow as previously scheduled.

The flag carrier said yesterday the postponement would allow Terminal 2’s baggage systems to be tested further to ensure proper operation.

THAI is one of 23 Star Alliance members operating flights to and from Heathrow that will make Terminal 2 their new home.

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair are offering discount fares on round-trip economy seats starting from 4,000 baht for Bangkok-Hong Kong, 10,800 baht for Bangkok-Japan and 19,650 baht for Bangkok-North America.

Fares are exclusive of airport tax, fuel surcharge and related fees.

Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has launched a promotion for Bangkok-based passengers travelling to destinations across the airline’s Middle East and European network.

Available until July 20, the promotional fares for economy class start from 15,500 baht for travel to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Medina, Jeddah, Riyadh, Dammam, Kuwait, Khartoum, Cairo, Beirut, Amman, London, Paris, Istanbul and Frankfurt.
