He returned along with a Thai delegation led by Sihasak Phuangketkeow, the permanent secretary for foreign affairs, which arrived at Suvarnabhumi aiport from Phnom Penh  about 11.25am Wednesday.

Mr Veera was released on a royal pardon to mark the first anniversary of the death of the former king Norodom Sihanouk on July 7. He had served time at the Prey Sor prison in Phnom Penh after being sentenced to eight years in jail for espionage by a Cambodian court in February 2011.

A number of his supporters turned up at the airport to receive him.

From the airport, Mr Veera was taken by immigration police to the Crime Suppression Division to hear charges in connection with the seizure of the Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi airports in 2008 by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD).
