To mark the Asarnha Bucha Day, on Friday, Seacon Bangkae is holding an auspicious event for Buddhists to pay homage to the sacred relics of Lord Buddha and his first five disciples or Panjavakees from tomorrow until July 14.

The ‘Asarnha Bucha Trai Rattana Mongkol’ event will take place at Seacon Bangkae from tomorrow to July 14.

Named “Asarnha Bucha Trai Rattana Mongkol”, the event will commemorate Buddha’s first sermon delivered to the Panjavakees and the founding of the first Buddhist Sangha 45 years before the Buddhist era.

The relics are on loan from Myanmar and are kept in a replica of the Dhamekh Stupa in India, which will be displayed alongside the waxworks of five highly revered late Thai Buddhist monks.

They include Phra Rajpromyan (Veera Thavaro aka Luang Pho Ruesi Ling Dam), Luang Por Ngern Buddhachote, Somdej Phra Buddhacharn (Toh Phomarangsi), Phra Mongkol Thepmunee (Sod Janthasaro), and Luang Pu Thuat of Wat Chang Hai. Visitors are invited to do a daily wien tien ceremony during which they will walk around the stupa three times in a clockwise direction with lighted candles in hands and pay respect to the five waxworks, as well as other sacred Buddha statues at the mall’s Centre Court, first floor.

The opening ceremony be held tomorrow at 1.30pm, after which the presentation of the 2014 Buddhism Ambassador Awards will take place.

This is a chance to rub shoulders with stars and artists who will come to receive the awards, including Pakorn Lum, Tui Kiatkamol, Por Tridsadee, Un Wittaya, Thephasadin Na Ayudhya, Pete Thongchua, Ake Rangsiroj, Wasu Sangsingkaew and Vorakorn Sirisorn.
