Prosecutors get train-murder case

Prachuap Khiri Khan police Wednesday sent prosecutors their investigative report on last week’s rape and murder of a 13-year-old girl on a southern train.

In the investigation report filed with Somchai Saksunthorn, chief of the Hua Hin prosecution office, investigators recommended indictment of two suspects: Wanchai Saengkhao and Nathakorn Chamnan. They are accused of involvement in the brutal attack on Nong Kaem on the Nakhon Si Thammarat-Bangkok overnight train June 6.

Wanchai was charged with rape of a girl under 15 years old, concealing, removing and destroying her body, possession of methamphetamines and intentional murder.

Nathakorn was charged with conspiring with Wanchai to commit the crime.

Ms Nuathip, director-general of the Region 7 Prosecutor's Office, said that to ensure justice for all sides, efficiency and transparency, Mr Somchai has set up a committee to consider the case in cooperation with Prachuap Khiri Khan police.

Mr Somchai said if the committee could quickly finish its examination, the case would be considered for indictment in the Hua Hin court today.
