Singapore defence chief confirms ties

Singapore's Chief of Defence Ng Chee Meng has confirmed his country's full cooperation with the Thai military during a visit to Thailand on Wednesday.

Supreme Commander Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn received his Singaporean counterpart with an honour guard of Thai armed forces at the Royal Thai Armed Forces headquarters in Bangkok.

In discussions, the Singapore defence chief insisted on the continuation of long-standing bilateral relations and expressed understanding about the situation in Thailand. He said the road map of the National Council for Peace and Order would result in successful national administration and will prepare Thailand for its participation in the Asean Community.

AM Ng also confirmed that the military of both countries would continue with their cooperation, joint drills, educational partnership and the exchange of visits and information.

Both supreme commanders also discussed cooperation on the establishment of an Asean disaster relief centre.
