Annual world-class watch expo to display more than 30,000 pieces by leading brands

SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

Siam Paragon shopping centre and Paragon Department Store are joining forces to host the "Siam Paragon Watch Expo 2014", which promises to be one of Thailand’s biggest watch fairs, from July 31 to Aug 18.

The annual expo will showcase more than 30,000 world-class timepieces from 180 of the world’s leading brands including Bovet, Breguet, Breitling, Corum, Gucci, Issey Miyake, Maurice Lacroix, Zenith and many more.

With an investment of more than 40 million baht, the watches will be displayed at various locations throughout Siam Paragon and Paragon Department Store, across a total exhibition space of 13,000m². Offers during the expo will include up to 50% discount, special promotions and prizes worth over 18 million baht in total.

Bovet’s Dimier Recital 16 Calibre Rising Star II (12,800,000 baht).

“The event is intended to offer the best quality watches and ultimate shopping experience to the Thai public and foreign visitors,” said Mayuree Chaipromprasith, senior chief marketing officer of Siam Paragon. “The expo offers an excellent opportunity for fans and collectors of watches to learn of the latest trends first-hand without having to travel abroad and also to own their favourite pieces at a special price.”

“Apart from the latest collections, this year’s expo also gathers limited edition timepieces and innovations directly from the two world watch fairs held earlier this year in Switzerland: Baselworld and SIHH,” said Jakkrit Keeratichokchaikun, senior vice-president and chief merchandising officer of Paragon Department Store. “We are also welcoming three new brands to the expo — Scuderia Ferrari, Sevenfriday and Demonaco.”

Steel watches are the most popular trend in 2014, according to Jakkrit, with many leading brands choosing the material for a range of styles, including luxury, classic, contemporary and sports. Gold remains the all-time favourite casing for watches, however, with yellow, pink and rose gold featuring in almost every watch brand catalogue.

Some masterpieces on show are Bovet’s Dimier Recital 16 Calibre Rising Star II, Zenith’s El Primero Tourbillon, Carl F. Bucherer’s Manero Power Reserve, Corum’s Admiral’s Cup AC-One 45 Tides, Frederique Constant’s Heart Beat Manufacture FC-945 and Montblanc’s Princesse Grace de Monaco limited collection. Mountblanc recently become a charity partner with the Princess Grace Foundation-USA, which assists emerging talents in the performing arts.

Watch-lovers are advised to not miss two interesting exhibitions — Breitling’s “30th anniversary Of Chronomat”, its flagship chronograph model, at the Hall of Fame from July 31 to Aug 18, and “Glycine Centenary” at the Hall of Mirrors from July 31 to Aug 6.

'Siam Paragon Watch Expo 2014' runs from July 31 to Aug 18, at the Hall of Fame, Hall of Mirrors, Paragon’s watch department, Fashion Hall, Fashion Gallery and Star Dome. Watch Galleria at The Mall and Emporium will also join the promotion and offer up to 50% discount until Sept 30. Call 02-610-8000.
