SOCIAL & LIFESTYLE

We’ve been looking forward to seeing more masculinity from Pattamon Techanarong’s fashion brand Commit a Sin. Compared to last season, her second collection, “The New Heroine”, starts to inch towards the designer’s penchant for androgyny a little bit more distinctly, with dapper looks distancing themselves from the previously girly, flirty and flouncy. Of course, not all things feminine are thrown overboard — a girl’s gotta have skirts and dresses to choose from, too, but The New Heroine uncovers more slick and rakish sophistication.

Most fittingly for this atmosphere, the main inspiration is militia-style uniforms, alluding to the formal tailor-made attire undeniably entwined with elegance and smartness. The formality and masculinity of brave men in the army, reinterpreted for confident and decisive women, is the main thread of this collection. Also playing a key role in The New Heroine are aesthetics from the days of French general Napoleon Bonaparte, whose elaborate army jackets and accessories later on influenced the fashion of the upper classes.

This autumn, the signature print uncovers golden oak leaves, like those used to make crowns worn by the ancient Roman army, to symbolise victory and luxury. Although white is the prime colour of the collection, the darker palette of navy blue, khaki and black adds to the military motif. Key pieces that should help you take the front line with stylish confidence include shirt dresses, but it is the sleek power suits that Commit a Sin should strive to be known for.

A jacket with a signature print is one of the most recognisable pieces every season that guarantees outstanding flair. But whether in solid colours or prints, it’s a worthy and elegant staple that will keep you well suited for functions both day and night. We’ll again salute the invisible stitching details which create a neat and extremely polished silhouette, making this collection from Commit a Sin another sinful pleasure.

The New Heroine collection is available at Commit a Sin, ThaiThai Zone, second floor, Central Chidlom. Open daily 10am-10pm.
