Gunman hunted after fleeing hospital

A suspect facing charges of attempting to kill police officers and multiple other offences has escaped while being held in custody at the Police General Hospital on Thursday.

Boontham Tabtimnark, 52, fled from the hospital’s inpatient department at about 3pm after being treated for gunshot wounds.

Details of his escape were not yet available. Pol Col Jarut Sarutjornporn, chief of Pathumwan police station, said police were hunting him and had tracked him down to a location late in the evening, but could not disclose it to the public.

Mr Boontham is wanted for illegal possession of weapons and drugs. On July 25, he exchanged gunfire with a team of officers from two police stations in the Lat Krabang area while trying to escape arrest and was shot in the arms.
