The Thai affiliate of the Malaysia-based budget airline is linking Don Mueang airport with Narita International Airport, east of Tokyo, and Kansai International Airport in Osaka, western Japan, Jiji Press reported.

It will offer one round-trip flight per day on the Narita route, and five per week on the Kansai route, Jiji said.

The number of Thai tourists to Japan grew 74% to 453,642 last year, becoming the sixth-largest market for the Japan's tourism industry, officials said.

Thai AirAsia X chief executive Nadda Buranasiri said the number of flights on both routes would increase next year.
