The blaze at the premises in Soi Bearing 17 started shortly before dawn in a server storage room at the front and  quickly spread to a power supply room at the back, said Srawut Kaewsod, 34, the security guard who discovered the fire.

It took crews of seven fire engines about half an hour to put out the flames. All computer equipment and serverswee reported ruined and the one-storey structure gutted.

The warehouse belongs to Sumartio Co, which is owned by a foreigner and was opened only four months ago.

Pana Laprakone, 38, a computer engineer and the warehouse caretaker, said he believed an electrical short-circuit caused by  heat generated by servers could have sparked the fire. The cost of the damage was still being assessed. There were no injuries.
