The wife of missing Karen activist Porlajee Rakchongcharoen, alias Billy, has urged the Department of Special Investigation to look into her husband's case after she received a kidnapping threat.

Pinnapa Prueksaphan said she felt her life was in danger after a neighbour warned her to stop asking state agencies to help search for her husband. She was told that if she did not heed this warning she could be the next person to go missing.

Mr Porlajee was arrested in Kaeng Krachan National Park in Phetchaburi province for possessing wild honey on April 17, 2014.

Chaiwat Limlikit-aksorn, former park chief, claimed he made the arrest but released the activist afterwards. Mr Porlajee's wife and relatives believe the activist is still being illegally detained.

Human rights activist Angkhana Neelapaijit, who helped Ms Pinnapa submit her petition to the DSI yesterday, said police recently told Ms Pinnapa they would stop their investigation because they had finished interrogating all witnesses.

Investigators, however, say they have not told Ms Pinnapa anything about their probe since they started looking into her husband's disappearance.
