A 71-year-old German woman was found dead after she fell and broke her neck at a rented house in Dream Village housing estate in tambon Thep Kasattri of Phuket's Thalang district on Sunday.
The woman, identified as Irmgard Helga Hein, was found lying dead with a broken neck on the floor of the one-storey house by her younger brother who stopped by to take her out for lunch. She was believed to have died two hours previously.
Police were subsequently informed of her death.
An aluminium ladder was found under a hanging light bulb near where she was lying. Police found no signs of a struggle or traces of anyone searching the house for valuables. It was believed she might have fallen from the ladder while checking a light bulb.
Police would continue to investigate the cause of her death.
The woman had rented the house for 19,000 baht a month and stayed alone for over a year.
