Pol Lt Yodmeekiat Manosao of Mae Ping police station said she had rented a room on the seventh floor and stayed there alone for about a month.

There were no signs of a struggle in her room, or indications of foul play on her body.

Various types of medication belonging to the elderly woman were found in the room. Copies of fingerprints and footprints found in the room and on the balcony were collected for examination.

Pol Lt Yodmeekiat said investigators were working on the theory the woman may have had committed suicide due to illness, or she blacked out and fell over the balcony railing.
