Property market gushing in Phuket, Songkhla provinces

Singapore expats live in Phuket weekends

The booming property market in Songkhla and Phuket provinces is being driven by local economic growth, with a take-up rate exceeding 60% in all housing categories and doubling land prices in many instances, say property experts.

Tanawat Poonsin, president of the Songkhla Real Estate Association, said the property market in that province has grown exponentially in recent years, mainly in Hat Yai, as the municipality is the province's main business centre.

"Sadao district, which borders Malaysia, is emerging driven by logistics firms, both import and export," he said.
