Despite building a sandbag wall to protect your house from the floods, the water can still get into your house through underground pipes. The main culprit is the drainage system in the bathroom. But there is an easy way to prevent floodwater from getting into your house by using a PVC tube connected to the drainage pipe. The PVC tube will serve as a channel for the influx of floodwater. The level of water in the pipe will be the same as the level of floodwater outside the house. For example, if the floodwater outside is 80cm, the PVC pipe must be at least 80cm or one metre.
1. Find a PVC pipe with the same diameter as the floor drainpipe. A 20mm diameter PVC pipe costs around 50 baht per metre.
2. Cut the pipe to the length of the expected height of floodwater.
