Thailand's Uber Cup team bowed out in the quarter-finals of this year's championship after losing to Indonesia 3-0 in Chengdu, China, on Saturday.

Ratchanok Intanon narrowly lost to Gregoria Mariska Tunjung 20-22, 18-21 in the opening singles tie at Hi-Tech Zone Sports Centre Gymnasium.

Doubles players Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai went down to Apriyani Rahayu and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti 17-21, 14-21.

With the team desperately needed a point to stay alive, Supanida Katethong took the first game against Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo.

But the Indonesian fought back strong to take the second and the third games to claim the 19-21, 21-19, 21-19 victory and a place in the semi-final for her team.

Indonesia will face defending champions South Korea, who defeated Taiwan 3-0 on Saturday, for a place in the final.

An Se-Young eased past Hsu Wen-chi 21-14, 21-9, doubles players Baek Ha-Na and Lee So-Hee beat Hsu Ya-ching and Lin Wan-ching 21-6, 21-19 and Sim Yu-Jin completed the rout with a 21-5, 21-15 win over Sung Shuo-yun.

Hosts China and Japan will square off in the other semi-final on Sunday.

China, who were runners-up in the 2022 tournament, advanced to the last four after they beat Denmark 3-0 while Japan beat India 3-0 to progress on Thursday.

In men's Thomas Cup action, China knocked out holders India 3-1 and Malaysia beat Japan 3-1 on Thursday to reach the semi-finals.

Taiwan were to face Denmark while South Korea were to take on Indonesia, the 2022 runners-up, in the remaining quarter-finals later on Saturday.
