Twitter users are also celebrating Columbus Day, the US holiday marks the anniversary of Columbus landing in what is now recognized as the United States. Though the date of Columbus's landing is actually thought to be October 12, 1492, in 1971 the US government decided that it would be celebrated on the second Monday of October. Columbus Day is a national holiday in the US and is celebrated throughout the majority of the country.
Twitter users are also using Monday, October 8 to list experiences they wish to have before they die and giving relationship advice using the hashtags "50ThingsIWantToDoBeforeIDie" and "HowToMakeARelationshipLast."
