  at least on twitter i don't have to real all the BS that 95% of the user produce on sites like thaivisa.com. Maybe thats what i like about twitter.

  Shame, as a journalist you'd have found much benefit from Twitter if you'd just known who to follow.
  
  It's all about the network, if you follow the wrong people/not enough people you don't get value from the services.

  I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of Twitter and how to use it. I encourage you to continue using the system and explore some of the additional tools available that make the system all that much more valuable (tweetdeck is a great app which can also be used for your upcoming Facebook review, and twitter Lists make managing content much easier).
