Thailand will be the third country in Southeast Asia to see the Surface after Singapore and Malaysia.
Global research firm IDC projects tablet sales in Thailand will increase almost 50% to 4 million units this year, mainly from Android and Apple iOS.
The two models _ Surface RT and Surface Pro _ both have 10.6-inch displays but their prices have not been disclosed.
Globally, the Surface RT retails at US$499 (14,400 baht) and the Surface Pro at $899 (26,000 baht).
Nitipat Praweenwongwuthi, senior marketing manager of Acer Computer, said the new tablet could stimulate sales of Windows-powered tablets, competing with Google's Android and Apple's iOS. But he conceded Surface is likely to affect Windows-based tablet makers.
Wiroj Assawarungsi, deputy managing director of The Aspirers Group (TAG), an authorised dealer of Apple, said if Surface RT is priced at 15,000 baht, it could draw heavy interest from Thais.
He said the move by Microsoft might create a conflict with Windows-based computer makers.
