Thai team triumphs at RoboCup contest

A team of Thai students from King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) has triumphed at the World Robo Cup 2013 contest. 

The contest was held in Eindhoven, the Netherlands from last Wednesday to Monday, with more than 2,500 contestants from more than 40 countries taking part.

The iRAP Furious team from the KMUTNB earned the highest score in the RoboCup Rescue category, giving Thailand its seventh win in the category, said Venus Asawasithithaworn, director of Siam Cement Group (SCG) corporate's communications office - the sponsor of robotics competitions in Thailand.

The team beat the other 18 teams in the category including the US, the UK, Japan and Germany, The team also won the Best Mobility Award.

The Stabilise team from Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon and the OVEC Soomkor Team from the Vocational Education Commission were joint second runners-up in the field.
