The first entry to the PlayStation 3's Wonderbook catalog will be the J.K. Rowling co-developed and Harry Potter-themed Book of Spells, to launch November 13 in North America and from November 14 in European regions.
The standalone Wonderbook: Book of Spells pack
Wonderbook: Book of Spells is intended to be an interactive reading experience for its players, making words, objects and scenes leap from the page and encouraging players to get into books via spell-casting and spelling, waving magic wands and winning points for their Hogwarts house.
In common with the EyePet games that came before it, Book of Spells works with a PlayStation 3 and its set of motion-controlled PlayStation Move accessories -- the Move set's PlayStation Eye camera layers events from the book on top of the player's surroundings -- and all three will be available separately or in a bundle together.
That package will be one of the first bundles for the new-style PlayStation 3, which is a smaller, lighter version of the entertainment machine dubbed the "PS3 Super Slim," and the game itself is due November 13 in North America, November 14 in Europe, November 15 in Australia and November 16 in the UK.
As for price, PlayStation's European and US blogs confirmed the PlayStation 3 bundle starting at €289 (EU only so far), the game with PlayStation Move and Eye for $79/€79, or the game alone for $39/€39, less than the usual $59/€59 asking price for a standard retail game.
It launches the same week as a number of other family-friendly holiday season gaming gifts, such as Epic Mickey 2, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King!, and, for the US, Nintendo's new Wii U console and range of Wii U titles that include New Super Mario Bros. U, NintendoLand and the imagination-powered Scribblenauts Unlimited.
