Sixteen new Skylanders toys will be produced under the Swap Force name, and their Fall 2013 release will be accompanied by 8 new LightCore edition Skylanders, as well as 16 Series 3 reissues.
For the "Skylanders: Swap Force" video game that the figures work with, there's a new studio on board; where Toys For Bob developed the last two games, this time it's Vicarious Visions, better known for helping out on the "Guitar Hero" series -- though it was apprenticed for the 2012 Wii U version of "Skylanders: Giants."
Disney announced its response to the re-vamped "Skylanders" series in Januiary with plans for "Disney Infinity," which will also use a combination of real-life toys and video game make-believe, with film characters such as Jack Sparrow, Mr Incredible and Sulley confirmed to appear.
