A new trailer for toy and video game crossover "Disney Infinity" helps unravel its Play Sets concepts -- expandable game worlds taken from familiar Disney franchises such as "Monsters University," "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "The Incredibles."
"A play set is a collection of the best elements that you've seen in the [film]," explains "Disney Infinity" game director Troy Leavitt in the trailer. "It's not just a storyline, it's also all the key cool elements that are included in that."
Players will be able to explore each Play Set and all that it contains.
Items from that Play Set can then be brought back into the game's Toy Box mode, where they can be pieced together with content from other Disney properties.
The three mentioned above are included in the main game, while others -- such as "Cars" and "The Lone Ranger" -- will be sold separately as optional extras.
Like recent entries in the "Skylanders" series, "Disney Infinity" blends physical toy collection with video game activity; it's being prepared for a mid-August release on 360, PS3, 3DS, Windows PCs, Wii and Wii U.
