Sing! Karaoke by Smule

Available on the App Store and Google Play

Like any good Disney fan, there comes a moment when you wish you could belt out a song in perfect synchronisation with perfect strangers. Put your princess attire aside, because Sing! Karaoke by Smule can get you close to the experience in a flash.

This app enables you to sing with a global community of music lovers. With enough points through ads and in-app upgrades, you can record yourself singing solo and share it online.

For anyone looking to have fun without spending a baht, you can opt to sing a duet with another user’s recorded piece. Lyrics show up in different colours, denoting which part is yours to sing. To make it a party, sing along with what a group of people have already recorded, overlaying voices onto a single track. You can often find off-key voices, lyrics being read aloud, or users making weird noises and comments. Some group singing can be quite strange, but it is a great fun nonetheless. You can even follow other users and listen to their recordings.

If you are not satisfied with your voice, you can re-record as much as you’d like. Pause, resume and restart until you get the best take of your chosen song. You can also add different sound effects to your voice. Users are encouraged to use earphones while recording for the best vocal quality.

As for the music itself, the selection of songs is not bad, though it is quite limited. The variety includes current chart-topping pop songs, much-appreciated classics and, of course, all-age crowd-pleasers from Disney soundtracks.
