Man drowns fishing in local canal

NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: A man drowned in a canal while fishing in Sichon district on Tuesday morning, police said.

Relatives told police that Thirayut Srimuang, 37, left his home in the morning and went into the canal to fish. He had disappeared and they feared he had drowned.

Police and rescuers from the Tai Tek Tung Foundation rushed to the canal, at Moo 11 village in tambon Plian. They used a small raft to search along the canal, and were assisted by divers.

Thirayut's body was found about 20 minutes later. He had no injuries, and there were no signs he may have been attacked.

His body was taken to Sichon Hospital for post-mortem examination
