JCC Bangkok Supports Disabled with 380K THB Donation

The Japanese Chamber of Commerce Bangkok donates essential items to the IRC Center in Pathum Thani, aiding disabled individuals' rehabilitation and employment.

The Japanese Chamber of Commerce Bangkok (JCC) Social Contribution Committee General Social Contribution Section, represented by Mr. Yoshihiro Sugeta (Hitachi Asia Ltd.), donated around 380,000 baht worth of supplies to the Industrial Rehabilitation Center (IRC) in Pathum Thani on March 26, 2024. The IRC is under the supervision of the SSO Office of the Ministry of Labour.

Donated Items

The donated items included wheelchairs, daily necessities, reading glasses, and cooking utensils and leisure purpose utilities. These items are essential for people who have become disabled due to work injuries (both physical and mental) to live their daily lives and to acquire skills for finding their next job during rehabilitation. The items will be distributed to the user of IRC.

Background of the Donation

In Thailand, it is said that many people with disabilities are unable to work despite their willingness to do so. The Ministry of Labor has been promoting initiatives to increase employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

As the largest foreign business community in Thailand celebrating its 70th anniversary, the JCC Bangkok decided to support the social reintegration of people with disabilities who are willing to work, by donating items that can be utilised by IRC as part of JCC’s social contribution projects. The JCC Bangkok aims to support people from various backgrounds to find employment and contribute in Thai society, which is facing a declining birthrate and a labour shortage recently.

Future Activities

JCC Bangkok will continue to actively promote various social contribution projects in Thailand as a representative of Japanese companies that have been doing business in Thailand for a long time, in order to express gratitude and give back to Thai society.
