“Lobster Wonderland" Debuts at Siam Paragon Festival

Siam Paragon and artist Philip Colbert collaborate FOR "Siam Paragon Ultrasonic Water Festival 2024" featuring a giant Lobster installation.

Siam Paragon, a premier global destination, is poised to host a spectacular summer celebration and Thailand's revered Songkran festival with "Siam Paragon Ultrasonic Water Festival 2024: Songkran Lobster Wonderland by Philip Colbert." This summer festival will spotlight a unique and massive art installation by the acclaimed British Pop Art artist Philip Colbert. Known for his vibrant "Lobster" artwork, Colbert brings his iconic creation to Bangkok from April 9-16, 2024, at Parc Paragon, Siam Paragon, in a collaboration with KASIKORNBANK Public Company Limited and JOOX.

The installation features a dynamic, oversized lobster in bright red, setting the stage for a significant contemporary art moment in Thailand. Colbert, recognised globally for his paintings, sculptures, and fashion merchandise, stands as a pivotal figure in the pop art scene. "I became an artist when I became a Lobster," Colbert states, emphasising how his Lobster persona embodies his artistic expression and serves as a conduit for exploring modern culture and art history. His work, known for merging contemporary themes with classical art, has led him to be dubbed the "Godson of Andy Warhol."

In Western culture, lobsters symbolise luxury and abundance but also mirror the competitive nature of humanity. Since 2017, Colbert's lobster-themed pop art exhibitions have become his hallmark, using vivid colours and engaging narratives to comment on and critique contemporary society. His "Lobster World," comprised of paintings, prints, sculptures, and global exhibitions, has garnered international praise from collectors and critics alike, establishing him as a leading contemporary artist.

Philip Colbert, born in 1980 in Aberdeen, Scotland, is an English artist who earned a master's degree in Philosophy from Saint Andrews University. His Lobster Landscapes and hyper-pop paintings, which delve into digital culture's complexities and its interplay with art's historical backdrop, have achieved worldwide recognition. His works, displayed in prominent museums and galleries, offer a fresh take on painting and pop art theory.

The Lobster represents the contemporary human condition, marked by consumerism and the quest for happiness. Colbert's lobster has been featured in exhibitions at notable venues like The Saatchi Gallery and The Tate Modern in London, and in collaborations with global brands such as Montblanc and Adidas.

Experience an unmatched summer at Siam Paragon's grand Songkran festival with Philip Colbert's world-first exclusive Lobster version at "Siam Paragon Ultrasonic Water Festival 2024: Songkran Lobster Wonderland by Philip Colbert," from April 9-16, 2024, at Parc Paragon, Siam Paragon.
