Bitkub Online Company Limited, the provider of digital asset trading centre services known as Bitkub Exchange, received an honorary certificate from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on 22 April 2024. This recognition was for their participation in the "Thai Capital Market, Sharing Knowledge Initiative with the People" project, Phase 1, which ran from July 2023 to March 2024. The initiative aimed to enhance financial literacy among Thai investors and the public, helping them to manage their finances efficiently, increase investment opportunities, maintain sustainable financial health, and understand various investment risks and measures to prevent fraud.
The SEC has set criteria for knowledge promotion activities to be honoured, which must embody the following characteristics:
- Providing knowledge beyond merely selling financial products or services, covering content that educates investors in seven areas, as defined by the Core Competencies Framework on Financial Literacy for Investors by the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD): 1.1 Basic investment principles and concepts 1.2 Investment product attributes 1.3 Buying/selling processes of investment products 1.4 Owning investment holdings 1.5 Investors' rights and responsibilities 1.6 Behavioural biases related to investing 1.7 Investment scams and fraud
- Promoting financial knowledge sources or tools from the SEC, such as www.smarttoinvest.com, www.รู้เรื่องเงิน.com, SEC Crypto Academy, Scam Centre for investment scam awareness, or SEC's mobile applications like SEC Check First, SEC Bond Check, SEC Fund Check, Retirement Check-Up, and more.
- Activities providing knowledge as per points 1 and/or 2 can be conducted through online or offline channels for the general public or specific target groups. There are no restrictions on the format of knowledge dissemination, which can either be ongoing activities conducted by businesses or newly initiated ones.
