Information
Located in the Wat Phra Thong temple is the upper half of a large Buddha statue, which seems to emerge from the ground. Local legends say that during the invasion of Thalang town by the Burmese Army, they tried to excavate the statue in order to take it back to Burma. Swarms of hornets would attack them as they tried to dig the statue out of the ground. The temple is located approximately 20 kilometres from Phuket City.
