The focus of the New Zealand Embassy's work is managing New Zealand's political, economic and trade relations with Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Burma/Myanmar. The New Zealand Ambassador to Thailand is also accredited to Cambodia, Laos and Burma/Myanmar. The embassy provides consular assistance to resident and visiting New Zealand nationals, including emergency assistance and advice in the case of arrests, hospitalisation or if passports are lost/stolen. The New Zealand Immigration Service, Bangkok, is responsible for issuing all visitor, work, residence and student visas for entry into New Zealand. In addition to the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT), a number of other government agencies are located with the embassy. The New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID) office in Bangkok is responsible for the oversight of NZAID development assistance activity in Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Burma/Myanmar.
