Sirikit Dam was named after the Queen of Thailand. Located about 68 kilometres from the provincial town of Uttaradit at Tha Pla district is the Khuean Sirikit Dam and Reservoir, which is famous for being Thailand's largest earth dam. Built in 1973 over the Nan River, this dam stands 160 metres high and 800 metres long and covers an area of 220 square kilometres.
