Information

The Wat Phananchoeng monastery is located south of Ayutthaya, on the east side of Chao Phraya River. There is no record of its building, but was already built when Ayutthaya was established as capital. The temple wihan is called Luang Phor Phanan Choeng (or Sam Pa Kong by the local Chinese). This wihan was built in 1325. There is a huge Buddha image created in 1324. Legend says the image wept when the Burmese invaded Ayutthaya.
