The Wat Intharawihan has a Buddha image 32 metres tall and 11 metres wide. Construction of this image started in 1867 and was completed in 1927, spanning the reigns of King Rama IV and King Rama VII. The topknot of the image contains relics of the Lord Buddha. The topknot and forehead are covered with gold leaf placed by the current royal family.
